Key Responsibilities

• Develop, plan, promote, implement, and evaluate day-to-day operations of the programs with the support of the Supervisor Early Years and other staff.
• Plan and implement programming based on the Ministry of Education’s pedagogy “How Does Learning Happen?” as well as the “Tools for Life” Program.
• Create and maintain a safe learning environment that is responsive to the interests and needs of the children in the program.
• Provide quality, play-based learning and supervision of all children in the care of Wesley Urban Ministries at all times.
• Ensure program needs are being met and in compliance with program licensing requirements.
• Welcome, support and interact with all clients, including those from culturally diverse backgrounds, newcomers to Canada, LGBTQ2S+, young parents, etc.
• What you will bring: Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education and registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
• Minimum 2 years of experience working with children and their families.
• Experience working in a childcare program, with parents, and with community partners.
• Thorough knowledge of applicable legislation, i.e., Child Care and Early Years Act (2014).
• Experience working with culturally diverse, newcomer, LGBTQ2S+, and young families Current First Aid/CPR, Safe Food Handling Certificate, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (N.V.C.I.) training.
