Assist in the day-to-day operations of the City of Terrace After School Childcare Program under the direction of the Responsible Adult - School Aged Program Coordinator or delegate.
Ensure children are safe and adequately supervised during program time.
Assist with homework and organize age-appropriate recreational and educational activities.
Provide emotional support and guidance to children and foster a positive, inclusive environment.
Encourage social interactions and help children develop positive relationships with peers.
Facilitate snacks or meals provided during the program and ensure appropriate nutrition.
Maintain open and effective communication with parents or guardians regarding progress, activities, and concerns.
Handle accidents or medical situations and ensure the environment is safe and compliant with safety protocols.
Participate as a team member, including supporting staff training and mentoring activities.
Participate in staff meetings and professional development seminars.
Comply with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act - Child Care Licensing Regulation.
Perform other related duties as required
At least 19 years of age.
Responsible Adult Certificate.
Secondary school graduation plus completion of (or combination of) courses totaling at least 20 hours in child development, guidance, health and safety, or nutrition.
Minimum of at least 3 months of recent and relevant work experience working with children in a structured setting.
Clear criminal record check.
Valid Child Safe First Aid Certification or willingness to complete training.
Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing.
Ability to work harmoniously and effectively with children, fellow employees, and the general public.
BC Class 4 Unrestricted Drivers License considered an asset
