<p><strong>Department of Human Kinetics, Faculty of Science<br />Part-Time Academic Instructor (HKIN 150: Introduction to Sport in the Humanities)</strong></p> <p>The Department of Human Kinetics invites applications for a part-time Academic Instructor to teach two sections of <em>HKIN 150: Introduction to Sport in the Humanities </em>(Fall term 2026 {3 credits} and Winter term 2027 {3 credits}).
Total 6 credits.
These sections can be delivered online. This position is subject to final budgetary approval. </p> <p>The calendar description is as follows:<span> </span></p> <p>HKIN 150 serves as an introduction to sport in the humanities.
Students will learn about the philosophical, historical, and socio-cultural dimensions of sport.
Issues and themes to be explored include the historical conceptualization of sport, the significance of sport, knowledge in sport, excellence in sport, the beauty of sport, and sport culture.<span> </span></p> <p>We seek candidates with a background in<strong> sport and humanities.</strong> Previous teaching experience in this field is an asset.<span> </span></p> <p>Qualified applicants should hold a PhD or Master’s degree in Kinesiology or a closely related field.
Preference will be given to individuals who have strong teaching and communication skills.<span> </span></p> <p><strong>About the Department </strong></p> <p>Human Kinetics students pursue a four-year integrated program that focuses on <strong>human body movement</strong> from a variety of perspectives (athletic therapy, biomechanics, disability, exercise physiology, gender, growth, health, history, motor control, philosophy, physical education, sociology, psychology).
Students are <strong>well-prepared</strong> after graduation to enter the workforce, apply to professional programs (e.g. physiotherapy or occupational therapy) or medical school, or pursue graduate studies.<span> </span></p> <p><span><strong>Application Instructions</strong></span></p> <p>Consideration of applications will commence on August 12, 2026 and will continue until the position is filled.
