Description

  • ILSC-Vancouver is seeking qualified and dynamic ESL Teachers available for on-call substitute teaching, between the hours of 8:30am and 5:15pm, Monday through Friday. Successful candidates will be comfortable teaching a diverse range of adult English Language programs and courses in a hybrid classroom setting (in-person with simulcasting). A TESOL certification from a Canadian-approved institution is required for this position. This position requires union membership. A Criminal Record Check is a requirement of employment. Applicants must be eligible to work in Canada.

  • The duties of this position include, but are not limited to: Teaches lesson(s) prepared by the classroom teacher utilizing various materials and technologies as required. Leaves details for the teacher when finished covering the class to support a smooth transition back to the classroom teacher. Maintains current and accurate class records. Enters attendance records into computerized database daily. Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Attributes: Ability to communicate fluently and accurately in written and oral English Demonstrated proficiency with current technology tools and online learning platforms including: Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Outlook, Teams, SharePoint and Excel Zoom and Teams in a classroom setting Online and hybrid teaching experience preferred Demonstrated to deal effectively and courteously with students and staff, who may come from differing cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Demonstrated ability to prioritize, organize and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
