Lead or assist in a half-day preschool program for children aged 3-5 in a nurturing, faith-based environment. Implement government-licensed program standards and maintain positive relationships with children, parents, and co-workers.
Job Purpose Available to be called in, on short notice, to lead or assist in the implementation of a half day preschool program (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday) for children, 3-5 year olds, in a nurturing environment that connects children and their families to Jesus.
Main Responsibilities Familiar with and able to implement the standards, policies and procedures of the Program Plan as a government-licensed preschool program to maintain the safety, well-being and development of children.
Meet with Early Childhood Educator or Assistant to discuss daily plans.
Support Early Childhood Educator or Assistant with the implementation of daily teaching plan using creative, hands on, age-appropriate techniques.
Establish and maintain positive relationships with children and parents.
Utilize opportunities to connect children to Jesus through prayer, activities and interactions.
Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers, parents and community service providers working with children.
Could be called to assist with field trips and special events which may be outside of regular hours (ie.
Parent Orientation, Christmas concert, Open House, Parent/Child Night, Graduation).
Level 3 Early Childhood Educator or Bachelor of Education. Current certificate for First Aid and CPR training, or willing to complete. Passion for and knowledge of preschooler’s spiritual, mental, emotional and physical development. Ability to take initiative and work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
Additional Requirements Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check. Committed to supporting the core values and modeling core practices of the church. Will follow and adhere to the policies and procedures of the Staff Handbook. Member of Sherwood Park Alliance Church or willing to work towards membership.
September to June – Work days follow Elk Island Public School Calendar.
