This elective course provides an overview of the reading and writing difficulties experienced by students in grades K through 10 who struggle with literacy competence. Teacher Candidates will learn about informal, classroom-based tools used to assess and diagnose reading difficulties. They will also learn various strategies to differentiate instruction within an inclusive teaching-learning environment. Qualifications – Required Academic Degree: Master’s degree in Education; Bachelor of Education and/or K – 12 Teaching Certification; K-6 Ontario teaching experience with expertise supporting students with reading disabilities Qualifications – Required Discipline: Education
Qualifications: Required Areas of Specialization: Reading/Writing Instruction
Required Professional Designation: Qualifications – Other Doctoral degree in Education; post-secondary teaching experience in Reading/Writing Instruction; Leadership/consultant experience focused on supporting students with reading disabilities.
