Job description
*This posting will be used to hire 3 positions* Responsibilities
- Provide basic, first-level technical support to Faculty, Staff and Students through multiple communication channels (phone, email, in person). Able to provide first-level support for any product or service the
- Technology
- Sector supports such as, but not limited to: Desktop computers, laptop computers, printers, and related peripheral devices Telephone equipment and business machines Connectivity issues with networking equipment Both packaged software programs and internally customized ones Microsoft Windows operating system and Microsoft Office applications MacOS operating systems and applications Logs service incidents and requests using computerized call tracking software (or manually, if necessary). Assign more complex incidents and requests to the correct second or third level specialist support group for investigation and resolution. When time allows, reads documentation to try and solve problems and learn more about technology, tries to replicate problems on equipment in the work area, or cleans surfaces of equipment. Policy and procedure familiarization, when time allows. Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
Must be a full-time student at The University of Winnipeg. Must have customer service skills to effectively deal with clients using recognized customer services principles. Must have experience using personal computers, software, mobile devices, mobile applications and the internet. Must have solid knowledge of either the Windows or Mac operating systems, with preference to those who demonstrate knowledge of both systems. Working knowledge and experience with office productivity software such as word processors, spreadsheets, presentation applications, email clients, etc. Must have the ability to communicate technical information and instructions clearly and accurately, both verbally and in writing. Able to communicate that information in everyday terms to a non-technical audience. High oral and written English proficiency. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to follow oral and written instructions, procedures and regulations. An equivalent combination of education, experience, skills, knowledge and abilities may be considered. Condition(s) of Employment: Must be legally entitled to work in Canada. Must be a full-time student. Full-time students are defined as students enrolled in the current academic year in a high school or at the University of Winnipeg in a full-time program of study as defined in the University of Winnipeg General Calendar. Ability to working day and evening shifts.
