Language Instructor(s) are responsible for planning and delivering high-quality structured lessons that teach the linguistic aspects of language while also introducing students to the cultural contexts that give languages their richness and depth.

We welcome immersive and innovative teaching approaches to language acquisition and development that support adult learners.

Classes will be ongoing or short-term, depending on interest and availability with sessions typically running over several weeks or months. Classes are typically 90 minutes delivered in person.

Programs are subject to minimum enrollment.

Examples of Programs Include (but are not limited to)

  • Hebrew Level 1, 2, 3
  • French Level 1
  • Conversational French
  • Spanish Level 1, 2
  • American Sign Language

Responsibilities

  • Design and lead engaging, well-structured lessons with clearly defined outcomes
  • Weave cultural teachings into lessons that provide historical significance and meaningful social insights
  • Maintain a safe, lively and inclusive learning environment
  • Adapt programming to meet the cultural interests and skills of the students and employ best practices
  • Manage basic teaching materials and setup

Qualifications

  • Language teaching certification and/ or educational equivalency with prior teaching experience
  • Prior experience facilitating language-based programs and teaching (formal or informal)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Passion for teaching language to adults
  • Reliable, organized, and adaptable
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Compensation

Compensation is program-dependent and will be determine based on experience, program type, and structure.

Estimated range

$30-50 per hour (or sessional equivalent) depending on qualifications and experience.

Positions may be arranged as either

  • Employee (hourly wage), or
  • Independent Contractor (per session or contract-based fee)

Availability

We are actively seeking instructors to begin during our fall program session.

Flexible scheduling options are available, including daytime, evenings, and weekends. Scheduling is also based on facility space and participant demand.
