Nature and Scope

Are you interested in being part of a team of people who loves working with children? Being a YMCA Before & After school Program Leader is both a rewarding and a challenging experience. Not only will you form relationships with the children and their parents, but you will also form relationships with the teachers and administration at the school you are placed at.

Responsibilities

  • Provide care for school age children at a school location, both before school and after school, as well as lunch supervision
  • Give active and loyal support to the program in accordance with YMCA core values (respect, responsibility, honesty, caring, equality and inclusiveness)
  • Plan and coordinate activities for each day
  • Maintain a positive attitude at all times
  • Act in a supportive and professional manner when working with children
  • Report to the Program Director regarding any problems or concerns
  • Build positive relationships with children, parents, teachers, and principals
  • Maintain accurate attendance records
  • Adhere to YMCA Child Protection Policies and Procedures

Qualifications

  • First Aid and CPR
  • Child Abuse Registry and Criminal Record Check
  • Aptitude for working with children
  • Minimum one year related experience
  • Preference given to those with background courses in education or early childhood education
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently

Competencies

The ideal candidate is dependable, reliable and, most importantly, enjoys working with children. Preference will be given to those who have experience working with children.

Hours of programs

7:30 am to 9:00 am, 11:30 am to 1:00 pm and 3:15 pm to 5:30 pm

Requirements
