• </div><p><b>Position Summary</b></p><p>Working under the direction of the District Principal of Indigenous Education, the Indigenous Cultural Presenter receives assignments from the Indigenous Education Department and works collaboratively with school administrators, teachers, and staff.</p><p>The Indigenous Cultural Presenter develops, facilitates, and delivers Indigenous cultural learning experiences for students and staff, with a strong focus on the traditional territory of the Qayqayt First Nation, as well as other First Nations, Métis, and Inuit cultures.
• These cultural learning opportunities enhance curriculum delivery, promote Indigenous cultural awareness, and support the sense of belonging and engagement of Indigenous students.</p><p><b>Job Function</b> </p><ul><li>Develops and presents Indigenous cultural teachings, workshops, and presentations for students and school staff, integrating Indigenous history, worldviews, traditions, and contemporary perspectives.</li><li>Creates positive awareness, understanding, and foundational knowledge of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples, including local Nations, through storytelling, art, cultural practices, and experiential learning.</li><li>Works collaboratively with classroom teachers and school administrators to support the effective delivery of Indigenous cultural content aligned with curricular goals.</li><li>Facilitates group, class-wide, and school-based Indigenous cultural programming in collaboration with the classroom teacher, school administrators, or Indigenous Education Department.</li><li>Supports the development of culturally responsive learning environments and contributes to building a visible and meaningful Indigenous presence within schools.</li><li>Encourages and supports Indigenous parent and community participation as contributors to cultural learning within schools.</li><li>Builds and maintains respectful relationships with Indigenous parents, local Nations, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, urban Indigenous organizations, and community partners.</li><li>Assists, when appropriate, with planning and participation in cultural events, field trips, ceremonies, and learning experiences related to Indigenous culture, heritage, and spirituality.</li><li>Collaborates with all Indigenous Education staff, including Indigenous Outreach Worker(s), to support Indigenous students through cultural knowledge and guidance.</li><li>Maintains records, logs, and reports related to services and presentations as requested by the Indigenous Education Department.</li><li>Performs related duties as required.</li></ul><p><b>Qualifications</b></p><ul><li>Grade 12 graduation and completion of a post-secondary program or relevant knowledge in Indigenous Studies, Indigenous Education, or a related field is preferred.</li><li>Demonstrated knowledge of Indigenous cultures, traditions, histories, and values through lived experience, Indigenous ancestry, and/or significant personal and community involvement.</li><li>Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work respectfully with students, staff, families, and community members.</li><li>Ability to work collaboratively in school settings and adapt presentations for various age groups and audiences.</li><li>Regular travel between schools across the district and community locations will be required.</li><li>Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence and meets district requirements for driving and working with children and youth.</li></ul><p><b>Hours of Work & Salary</b></p><ul><li>18 hours per week, 8:30am to 3:10pm, 3 days/week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) at $34.39 per hour</li><li>While the position works within schools, the office space will be located at New Westminster Secondary School in the Indigenous Education Room.</li><li>As this is a new bargaining unit position, the wage rate will be subject to review by the Joint Job Evaluation Committee (JJEC) as per the terms of the CUPE 409 Collective Agreement. </li></ul><p><b>Equity Statement</b></p><p>School District No.
