<p><i>JOB VACANCY </i><strong>TRANSFER/EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY</strong> </p><p><strong>Competition #: </strong> # 6 - 2026-2027 </p><p><strong>Position: </strong> Elementary Counselor </p><p><strong>Description: </strong> Counselor </p><p><strong>Location: </strong> JS Clark, GW Carlson, & RL Angus</p><p> <strong>Status:</strong> Full Time Continuing Appointment – FTE 1.0</p><p> <strong>Commencement Date: </strong> September 1, 2026 </p><p>This position will serve our three in-town elementary schools, approximately 350 students. Scheduling between the schools will be determined in coordination with the three elementary principals; with a requirement to adjust schedules as needed to address emergent issues, also reports to the Director of Instruction. </p><p>The starting annual salary for this school counselor ranges from $68, 492, to $118,751, with placement on then range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. </p><p><strong><u>Qualifications:</u></strong></p><p>Valid BC Teaching certificate. </p><ul><li>Teaching experience. </li><li>A Master's degree in Counselling Psychology, Educational Psychology, or equivalent. </li><li>Completion of a supervised counselling practicum.</li></ul><strong><u>Responsibilities:</u></strong><p>Providing direct counselling services to children, as well as <strong><u>include:</u></strong><strong> </strong> individual, group, or family counseling to referred students where appropriate.</p><ul><li>Working with school administration and classroom teachers to support healthy classroom environments. </li><li>Working in conjunction with parents, caregivers, and outside agencies for the welfare of children. </li><li>Attendance at weekly school-based team meetings to support students on their caseload, be aware of priority students in the schools, and serve as a source of expertise on social-emotional supports and student well-being. </li><li>Case management for students with H and R designations, which includes: </li><li>Development and updating of student IEP's. </li><li>Organizing and leading IEP meetings with school staff and families. </li><li>Reporting on student goals. </li><li>Coordinating and working in cooperation with classroom teachers, support staff, the school-based team, and parents/caregivers to help students flourish and be successful at school. </li><li>Helping staff to design and implement specific student plans and interventions. </li><li>Maintaining an appropriate and confidential system of student records </li><li>Participate in Behavioural and Digital Threat Assessments/Violence and Threat Assessments as needed </li></ul><strong><u>Closing Date:</u></strong><p>Interested applicants should submit a detailed resume, 3 professional references, and copies of counselling practicum evaluation, or the most recent evaluation as a school counsellor by <strong>10:00 am on June 10, 2026, or until a successful candidate is found.</strong></p><p><strong><u>Apply to:</u></strong><strong> </strong><strong> </strong><strong>Make a Future: </strong></p><p><strong>Successful Candidate: </strong> _____________________ </p><p><strong>Offer Accepted on: (Date) </strong> _____________________<strong> </strong><strong> </strong><strong>Accepted at: (Time)</strong><strong> </strong> ___________________<strong> </strong><strong>Administrator's Signature of Vacancy Offer: </strong>_________________________________<strong> </strong></p><p>Leave this posted for 3 days subsequent to appointment being confirmed. </p><p><i>Posting Date: May 29, 2026 </i></p>
