Position Summary
As a member of the Bayfield School team, this individual will provide instruction to the children and youth of Bayfield in accordance with the regulations, policies, and practices of the Ministry of Education and the expectations of the Bayfield organization.
Essential
Duties: and Responsibilities:
- 1.
- Knowledge and ability to perform tasks related to the resident’s admission and placement in the specific program being managed.
- 2.
- Daily psychosocial, behavioural and skill-related assessment of the resident’s activities and program related tasks.
- 3.
- In consultation with the Principal, Clinical Department, and other team members, design and implement individual and group curriculums, treatment plans and objectives for residents and to incorporate these into the daily routine of each specific program.
- 4.
- Formulate and maintain a learning and therapeutic alliance with students.
- 5.
- Prepare the students to learn 6.
- Maintain a safe and pleasant environment for students.
- 7.
- Plan and implement current curriculums based on Ministry of Education guidelines or non-guideline courses as required 8.
- Assist the students in learning acceptable social behaviour.
- 9.
- Maintain a positive learning environment.
- 10.
- Prepare students to participate and function in community learning based activities.
- 11.
- Carry out approved Plans of Care and Treatment Plans.
- 12.
- Participate in team and inter team approach in the treatment of students served.
- 13.
- Participate in case management meetings for assigned students in the day programs.
- 14.
- Completion of daily behaviour logs, incident reports, and other documentation as requested by the end of the school day 15.
- Completion of Progress notes as deemed necessary 16.
- Completion of mid-semester and semester end school reports 17.
- Prepare Client Progress Notes for Plans of Care and R.P.A.C. meetings as requested.
- 18.
- Prepare curriculum course outlines for each course taught.
- 19.
- Report on Case Management Meetings and clinical strategies for assigned students 20.
- Keep abreast of current developments in program area and other areas related to child development, group dynamics, individual therapies, as approved by Bayfield, through professional journals, magazines, articles and conferences.
- 21.
- Be willing to take related courses if necessary to further and/or update education 22.
- Take an active part in scheduled Professional Development days.
- 23.
- Engage in regular supervision with principal.
- 24.
- Ensure that all Policy and Procedure requirements are adhered to and participated in.
- 25.
- Participate in research oriented questions and/or projects that might help to further the scope and/or quality of service to students.
- 26.
- Cooperatively assist in the supervision and evaluation of students on placement 27.
- Participate in staff meetings and other meetings as required by Bayfield.
- 28.
- Ensure that the classroom is kept in a neat and orderly fashion.
- 29.
- Ensure that lessons are prepared and student’s work is marked regularly.
- 30.
- May be required to attend Case Management meetings 31.
- May be required to do residential supervision before school and at noon hour.
- 32.
- Perform other duties as prescribed by senior staff.
Job Requirements
Education, Certificates, Licenses, Registration
1. Ontario Teaching Certificate 2. Special Education Certificate an asset 3. Deemed equivalency in education and experience.
