Ready for School Educator

(Short Term Contract)

JIAS Toronto is a prominent non-profit organization committed to providing support and services for newcomers in Toronto. We are proud to offer a wide range of programs that empower individuals and families to integrate successfully into Canadian society. As part of our ongoing initiatives, we are seeking a dedicated educator for our Ready for School program.

As an educator, you will play a crucial role in preparing program participants for a successful transition into the Ontario school system. This is a fixed-term contract position, starting on August 4, 2026. The full-day program runs Monday August 10, 2026, and ending on Friday August 21, 2026, with an orientation session on August 6, 2026 in the evening.

You will be responsible for delivering the program's curriculum, assisting with the overall program activities, and ensuring a positive learning environment for the participants.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the team to develop and adapt the curriculum to align with program objectives
  • Participate and assist in the orientation, training, and onboarding of educators
  • Lead and facilitate all regular curriculum activities during the program period
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and track hours worked for payroll purposes
  • Participate in field trips as required
  • Participate in program orientation and training as required

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in education or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • OCT required
  • Previous experience working with children or educational programs
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to adapt and modify curriculum as needed
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with participants, parents, and team members
  • Proficient in using Microsoft excel or similar software for tracking hours

Compensation and Benefits

Hourly Rate

  • $45 per hour
  • 4% vacation pay on gross wages
  • Payment made semi-monthly, following JIAS Toronto's payroll practices, and subject to statutory deductions and withholdings
