Requires 1-3 years of experience working with children and a relevant post-secondary degree or ECE registration. Candidates must be between 18 and 30 years old and meet Canada Summer Jobs eligibility criteria.

As a Summer Program Educator at Compass ELC, you'll join a team of passionate professionals dedicated to nurturing young minds. This role will work with children, families, and community partners to create enriching learning experiences based on their interests and passions. You'll work 35 hours weekly, Monday to Friday. Shift start and end times will fluctuate within the program's operating hours of 7 am to 6 pm.
Plan and lead interest- and play-based activities that reflect children’s unique interests to promote their physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development. Maintain active supervision of children while still being engaged in play. Documenting children’s learning progress through observation, reflection, and research questions. Create and maintain an environment that protects the health, safety, and well-being of children. Assist the children with diapering, dressing, and eating habits. Foster strong relationships with families and involve them in the learning process. Collaborate with coworkers, families, and community partners to create a supportive environment. Participate in team meetings, professional learning opportunities, and staff training opportunities. Assist in housekeeping duties within the program. Follow CELC, CCEYA, and Ministry of Education policies and procedures.
1-3 years’ experience working/volunteering with children and youth. Familiarity with the Child Care Early Years Act and licensing standards. Valid certifications include a Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check, Standard First Aid and CPR Level C, and updated immunization records. Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators OR has a post-secondary degree in a similar field (i.e., Child and Youth Care, Recreation and Leisure, Social Service Work, Bachelor of Education, etc.) OR is interested in pursuing their ECE diploma. As a Canada Summer Jobs Funded role, applicants must meet the following requirements to be eligible for employment: is between 18 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment; is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, S.C. 2001, c. 27*; and is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations. *International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.
