<p><b>MYP Physical and Health Education Teacher (1.0 FTE)<br></br><i>Grades 6 - 10<br></br>Permanent Position</i></b></p><p>Southpointe Academy is a leading edge International Baccalaureate (IB) Continuum School surrounded by the ocean, beaches and natural beauty of South Delta.

This substantial undertaking not only mirrors the school's continuous growth, but also demonstrates a sustained commitment to offering an optimal learning environment for all members of the school community.</p><p>Southpointe is seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated and collaborative teacher who shares a commitment to inquiry- and concept-based teaching and learning. <b><i>Reporting to the Middle School Principal, the MYP Physical and Health Education Teacher position will commence August 27, 2026 for the 2026-2027 school year.</i></b></p><p><b>Key Duties and Responsibilities</b></p><p>*These may include, but are not limited to...</p><ul><li>Develop an inquiry-based and dynamic physical and health education program;</li><li>Foster an appreciation of both individual and team sport and an enjoyment of learning and playing sport;</li><li>Demonstrate strong pedagogical practice in physical and health education instruction;</li><li>Coach school athletic teams in multiple sports throughout the year;</li><li>Work collaboratively with colleagues to support the development of an inquiry-based, interdisciplinary approach to teaching and learning;</li><li>Foster caring, committed and supportive relationships with students and families;</li><li>Create an environment that promotes an atmosphere of mutual respect and care;</li><li>Use engaging technology to enhance instruction and learning;</li><li>Participate in professional development training related to the IB programmes;</li><li>Design, prepare and deliver learning experiences that facilitate authentic engagement;</li><li>Identify and select instructional resources and methods to meet diverse student needs;</li><li>Design and implement a range of authentic learning assessments that provide timely feedback to students and clear direction to parents;</li><li>Maintain accurate, ongoing and complete records of student progress for the purposes of teaching, learning and reporting;</li><li>Prepare reports, conduct parent-teacher conferences and communicate with parents on an ongoing basis in order to foster an open and supportive relationship;</li><li>Model a strong work ethic, high standard of commitment, and maintain excellent professionalism in all interactions with colleagues, students and parents;</li><li>Participate in community building events, both in and out of school hours</li></ul><p>Southpointe Academy Physical and Health Education Teachers are expected to coach extensively throughout the three sporting seasons to support the school’s Athletics offerings.

Southpointe athletics program includes: basketball, volleyball, soccer, track and field, badminton, and other sports.</p><p><b>Qualifications:</b></p><ul><li>Bachelor of Education or Equivalent;</li><li>BC Ministry of Education: Certificate of Qualification or Independent School Teaching Certificate.</li><li>Undergraduate or graduate level training in physical education.</li></ul><p><b>Preferences</b></p><ul><li>IB MYP training or teaching experience;</li><li>At least 1-2 years teaching experience;</li><li>Coaching certifications in school sports offered by Southpointe</li><li>Valid First Aid Certificate.</li></ul><p><b>Salary </b></p><p>Southpointe's teacher salary grid is at 6% above the Delta public school salary grid at all levels of the grid;<br></br>The annual salary for a full-time teaching position at Southpointe Academy during the 2025-2026 school year ranges from $68,422 to $116,091 based on placement on the approved teacher salary grid;<br></br>The Southpointe salary grid will increase at a percentage to be determined for the 2026-2027 school year. <br></br>Placement on the approved teacher salary grid is based on level of qualifications and duration of full-time teaching experience.</p><p><b>Benefits</b></p><ul><li>Comprehensive health and dental plan, and other extended benefits;</li><li>RRSP employer contributions;</li><li>Staff wellness program;</li><li>Subsidised school lunch programme;</li><li>Professional development resources and support;</li><li>Curriculum leadership opportunities;</li><li>Commuter benefits.</li></ul><p><b>Applications</b></p><p>Please submit your application with the following supporting documents to our <a></a>:</p><ul><li>Cover letter;</li><li>Resume;<br></br></li><li>Copy of BC Ministry of Education: Certificate of Qualification or Independent School Teaching Certificate;</li></ul><p>Please see our <a></a> for additional opportunities.</p><p>Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada or be in the process of obtaining the appropriate visa(s).</p><p>Southpointe Academy encourages applications from suitably qualified candidates with diverse backgrounds.
