Position Overview

We are seeking a reliable and compassionate Personal Support Worker (PSW) with experience supporting children with autism.

This role focuses on a daily transition period, supporting a child from their school bus to their day camp program, ensuring a safe, calm, and positive experience.

This is an urgent position and we are looking to hire as soon as possible.

Key Responsibilities: Meet the child at their designated bus drop-off location

Safely support and supervise transition to day camp

Provide emotional reassurance and structure during transitions

Use autism-informed strategies to reduce anxiety and support routine

Maintain clear communication with the family and care team

Schedule: Weekday shifts (short, consistent daily schedule)

Timing based on bus drop-off and camp start time

Additional hours may be available if the caregiver is a strong fit with the client and family.

Requirements: (Must-Have)

Valid PSW certification (or equivalent relevant experience)

Proven experience working with children with autism

Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle

Vulnerable Sector Check (completed within the last 6 months)

Valid First Aid & CPR certification

Up-to-date immunization records, including: Negative TB test

Diphtheria & Tetanus

MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)

Varicella / Zoster

Hepatitis B

Optional: Flu & COVID-19 vaccinations

WHMIS certification

Can be completed after hiring if not currently obtained

Preferred Qualifications: Experience supporting behavioural needs and transitions

Familiarity with ABA or other autism support strategies

Experience in home care, community care, or school environments
