JOB TITLE Human Service Practitioner REPORTS TO ESSP Manager

MAIN OBJECTIVE Human Service Support Workers work within the “Employment-First” team. These programs focus on engaging and empowering participants living with disabilities to develop personal, community and economic skills.

JOB OVERVIEW Human Service Practitioner’s deliver Key Industries’ programs using resources that focus on promoting and achieving individualized employment goals that align with New Brunswick’s “Employment First” standards. The Key Industries program delivery model provides opportunities for participants who live with disabilities to explore and engage in employment, community connection, personal development, and purposeful activities that assist in enhancing each participant’s Employment Service Plan and personal life goals.

Duties and Responsibilities

The ideal Human Service Practitioner is expected to be organized and be able to deliver personal development programs, use resources and pre-employment learning modules that enhance job readiness skills. A key factor of this position is the ability to research and develop new learning material and lesson plans to present to groups daily. The Human Service Practitioner must be able to create an IESP on each participant, collect and maintain data on participant’s progress, complete reports, and use appropriate measurement tools that document the history of a job seeker’s progress and job-specific outcomes.

  • As a Human Service Practitioner, you must be comfortable with using different learning styles, incorporate role play, provide creative learning and practice activities that challenge participants to go outside their comfort zone to gain greater autonomy.
  • Must be open to working with participants on Personal Development, Community Connections and Employment Skills.
  • Must have a good knowledge of Computer Software and apps through the process of career exploration and career development.
  • Must monitor and document progress while capturing participants’ interests, skills, and abilities, as well as assisting with resume building, exploring job market opportunities, and to assist and support the Job Developer with potential job carving opportunities.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively with participants and all the players on the participants' Case Management Team by communicating changes, progress with those involved in the process.

Qualifications

AND SKILLS Minimum Education: Degree/Diploma or specialization in; Social Science, Geriatrics, Social Service Community Worker, Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Activity Director, or other related disciplines Ability to assist with conflict resolution while demonstrating clear, consistent, professional boundaries while maintaining confidentiality Certified in CPR / First Aid Knowledge of community resources is an asset when planning activities Versatile in computer software, apps, and programs Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
