Lecturer A/2 Full-Time Equivalent

Salary Range: $5,507 – $6,677 per month Lecturer B/3 Full-Time Equivalent

Salary Range: $6,221 – $13,224 per month Lecturer C/4 Full-Time Equivalent

Salary Range: $6,825 – $14,523 per month Lecturer D/5 Full-Time Equivalent

Salary Range: $8,593 – $15,211 per month

Anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. Position Summary

The Kinesiology Department in the College of Communication and Education is collecting application materials for a pool of lecturers with positions available as determined by need during the 2026-27 academic year. Appointments from the lecturer pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term.

Minimum Qualifications

The minimum education requirement for a lecturer appointment is a Bachelor’s Degree for physical activity courses (100 level) and a Master’s Degree in Kinesiology, Physical Education, or related field for all other courses.

Note

some 100-level courses (e.g., yoga) may require additional certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous teaching experience
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching

Responsibilities

Lecturer positions in the department carry responsibilities in the areas of teaching undergraduate courses. Teaching assignments are based upon qualifications of the individual and the needs of the department.

The Department

The Department of Kinesiology is member of the American Kinesiology Association (AKA) and is National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Educationally Recognized Program. We are a learning community of 12 full-time faculty, more than 20 part-time faculty, and approximately 700 major students. Department faculty hold national and international leadership positions and are known for excellence in teaching, scholarship, and professional service. Background Check and Disclosures

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Education Code 89521 Requirements

Applicants will be required to disclose whether they have received a final administrative decision or final judicial decision determining that they have committed sexual harassment within the last 7 years only after a determination is made that they meet the minimum qualifications for the position, and before an offer of employment is extended. Applicants who reach the final stages of the application process must also sign a release form that authorizes the release of information by the applicant’s current and/or former employers to the CSU concerning any substantiated allegations of misconduct.

Mandated Reporter

The person holding this position is considered a “mandated reporter” under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 (revised July 21, 2017) as a condition of employment. The person also will have a duty to report to the campus Title IX coordinator information pertaining to discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct or exploitation, dating or domestic violence, stalking, and/or retaliation under CSU policy.

Retired Annuitants

Retired annuitants may accept work if the appointment meets CalPERS eligibility criteria to avoid reinstatement from retirement or interruption of benefits. Per Government Code 7522.56(c), the appointment must either address an emergency to prevent the stoppage of public business or require specialized skills for work of limited duration.
